Genesis Radon 610 Headset Review

Genesis Radon 610 Headset Review

Those of you who read my Radium 400 microphone review may have noticed a cheeky line that alluded to the fact that a brilliant microphone was not the only thing I was sent by hardware company Genesis. The Radon 610 Headset is next in the lineup that I’ll be covering: a budget headset aimed towards gamers that would make the perfect (albeit late) Christmas gift this month.

The Radon 610 Genesis connects to your device via a 2.1m braided USB cable. Much like the Radium 400, there was no messing with drivers or device settings to get it working. It features an attached microphone, volume slider and microphone mute button on the headset itself. A small light on the microphone lets you know if you’re muted or not, but you can’t see this light through the windscreen so it’s semi-redundant. Like with most headset microphones, it’s not the worst quality and in this case it’s certainly serviceable, but there’s a noticeable difference between when I use the desk-clamp microphone and when I use the headset. I did find it difficult to move the microphone out of the way if I wanted to eat, but not completely impossible. A feature I did like, however, was that the microphone mute button wasn’t exclusive to the headset mic. While using the headset, I still used my Radium 400 as a microphone, but muting on the headset would still mute the desk-clamp microphone, which didn't have a built-in mute feature by itself.

Anyone who’s taken a look at my writing repertoire when it comes to hardware should see that I love a good headset. As someone who predominantly plays online, competitive games such as Apex Legends and Dead by Daylight, good audio is important to me. Being able to use even the most minute of sensory details can be the difference between dying or surviving, and thankfully, Genesis didn’t let me down.

The sound quality of the Radon 610 is supreme. I can hear distant gunfire in Apex Legends, survivors breathing nearby in Dead by Daylight, and can listen to some of my favourite songs and recognise a new sound inside that I’d never noticed before. The 7.1 surround sound works wonders, and the earpads help keep the sound from escaping elsewhere to the room, all while being incredibly comfortable to wear for long durations of time. They fit perfectly around my ears and never caused strain around them or over my head.

radon 610 gaming headset review

The Genesis Radon 610 is on the lower end of the price scale when it comes to headphones I’ve reviewed, but it definitely sits higher in my rankings than most when it comes to quality. A perfect budget headset that doesn’t sacrifice quality for affordability.

Genesis Radon 610 Headset Review

While on the lower end of the budget scale, the Genesis Radon 610 absolutely excels when it comes to quality. The perfect piece of kit for someone looking to up the ante in your gaming.
